This recital will be the inaugural event in a new series:
The Rev. Dr. Marion L. Hendrickson Memorial Organ Concert Series.
This new series celebrates the musical tradition that Pastor Hendrickson laid down during his tenure here at St. Peter’s.
To open the series, we are pleased to welcome Dr. Craig Sproat on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at 3pm.
Dr. Craig Sproat is Concordia University Wisconsin’s resident organ instructor, Assistant Professor of Music, and Director of the Parish Music program. Dr. Sproat holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in organ performance from the University of Oklahoma. Originally from the Outer Banks of North Carolina, he also studied at CUW (B.M.A.) and Indiana University (M.M). His teachers include James Freese, John Behnke, and John Schwandt. From 2011 to 2015 he was an instructor in the School of Music at the University of Oklahoma, teaching private lessons and courses in organ and church music. From 2015 to 2022 he was an instructor in the school of Musical Theatre at the University of Oklahoma, where he served as staff accompanist, did some vocal coaching and music productions. He has served numerous parishes and has been the Kantor at Luther Memorial Chapel in Shorewood, WI, since August 2022.
The next concert will be on August 25 with Mr. Jaret Schroeder. Mr. Jaret Schroeder, the Principal Organist at St. Paul’s Catholic Student Center on the UW Campus, where he supports the choral program and music ministry. He also serves Calvary Lutheran Chapel on the UW Campus, along with his wife, Emily, who will be providing oboe music as part of the concert. These ministries are reflections of the vigor and energy that college students bring with them in all that they do. You will no doubt experience that vitality and energy in Jaret’s playing. At the concert, there will be exciting pieces of music, including an organ duet, and an opportunity to sing where all are invited to joyously raise their voices.
The 2024 season will conclude with Dr. Jason Snodie on December 8.
Stay tuned for more information on both of these as it becomes available.
